Develop an Attitude of Gratitude
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
I trust that you are all doing well in life and ministry as you faithfully serve the Lord. At MTBC, it has been an amazing journey of training and equipping people and ministers for works of ministry for God’s kingdom. We have witnessed first-hand, God’s goodness, faithfulness, and hand upon the College all these years. The God whom we serve is amazing. Amen!
There is indeed so much we as a College can be thankful to God for, the works He has done for MTBC as a ministry training School. Today I’d like to share a thought with you from my heart regarding ‘GRATITUDE’ and let me start by looking at 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” [NLT]
God IS crystal clear on this issue of gratitude: WE ARE ALL called to be thanksgivers.
WHO? You.
WHEN? In all circumstances.
WHY? Because it’s God’s will for you.
Whatever else we may be confused about concerning God’s will, this part is clear. It’s NOT a suggestion – it’s a commandment. And since there are more commands in Scripture about thanksgiving than anything else, God evidently ENJOYS receiving thanks.
The psalmist said this is Psalm 69:30-31, “30 I will praise the name of God with a song, And . . . magnify Him with thanksgiving. 31 This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull . . .” [NKJV]
Why DOES God need to remind us to give thanks?
For the same reason we remind our child to do it – it’s considerate and until it becomes habitual, we FORGET. David, a man after God’s own heart, prodded his often forgetful soul into thanksgiving. Read Psalm 103:2 — “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:” [NKJV]
When we feel ungrateful, STOP and read David’s ‘benefit list’ in our Bible – it will FIRE UP our attitude of gratitude. Even when circumstances DON’T look good. God can turn it around for our benefit.
In ALL things He deserves our thanks. Even at his lowest point in the belly of a whale, Jonah RECOGNISED the need to thank God. See Jonah 2:2, 9, “When I was in danger, I called to the Lord, . . . I will praise and thank you . . .” [NCV]
So, make a habit of “giving thanks always for all things to God” [Ephesians 5:20, NKJV]. In other words, DEVELOP an attitude of gratitude. Amen!
We constantly thank God for His love, kindness, grace and His faithfulness to MTBC and pray the same for many more years, that we will be a College that effectively trains and equips people for works of ministry in God’s mission field.
Remember to pray for us at MTBC. Thank you and God bless!
Sincerely,
